We have always felt that caring for physical needs is central to our work. But we have also found that it’s a tricky business here in Malawi…

Nkhafi village decided to build a bridge across the river that separates them from the local health centre. They used their CHE training to get themselves organized, they gathered the materials, and they built Nkhafi bridge.

About the same time, Chimfine village (not its real name) in the same area, with the same training, also decided to build a bridge. This time a well-wisher heard about the plans and sent a few bags of cement to help with construction. To date, there is still no Chimfine bridge. They are waiting and hoping the well-wisher will send more.
