A tennis racquet, a hiking boot, and a machete lashed to a piece of bamboo. What critters are these three items particularly useful in dealing with?

There have been a lot of really great things about moving to the farm at Kindle. Our kids have been really starting to get to know some Malawian children, and go out to play with them almost every day. Our dogs absolutely love the freedom that they have to wander around and hang out with other dogs. Nala has even proven herself as a good farm dog, by spending a couple of mornings this week chasing monkeys and baboons away from the maize fields and fruit trees. And being in the middle of the area where Kindle is active has allowed Dean to respond quickly to things that come up, which seems to happen almost daily.

There are some not-so-great things that we’ve had to deal with on the farm as well. But we’re developing methods of handling these issues. This photo shows three weapons of choice that we’ve found useful here in dealing with critters in & around the house. Any guesses what those critters might be? Stay tuned–answers to come tomorrow!
